Dr. Peña is an Assistant Professor of Research of Educational Psychology at The University of Texas at San Antonio. He is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D) in the State of Texas and a licensed behavior analyst (LBA). He received his masters degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Dr. Peña completed his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University and is currently working at his alma mater as an Assistant Professor of Research. Dr. Peña has worked with people with disabilities across the life span across different settings such as homes, clinics, community, and a post-secondary education setting.

Dr. Pena's Research InterestsDr. Pena research focuses on addressing the employment gap of neurodiverse youth and adults. He investigates methods to incorporate technology and teach social skills crucial for competitive integrated employment, aiming to enhance inclusion and job opportunities. His publications primarily support the development of social skills in neurodiverse people within competitive employment contexts. He has led two single case experimental design studies (one published and one under review) addressing social skills in integrated employment sites and a systematic literature review (in press) on visually supported portable technology to support employment skills in young adults with IDD.
